Alcohol-Free Hot Mess Martini
/The problem with me has always been that I drink too fast. When it was real gin, that always ended in a hot mess. But today, I can slurp this drink as fast as I want and keep my cool!
My second favourite alcohol-free gin is called Sexy AF Viirgiin. It’s red, it’s got bite and it feels like a special treat. For this past Valentine’s Day, I made an AF martini with it that was such a treat to enjoy pre-dinner in front of a roaring fire (February in Canada, right?).
The downside to this martini is that you have to have access to some specific ingredients that most people won’t have in their kitchen. Cinnamon syrup was one of them. I purchased mine from Cocktail Emporium, but you can make it in your kitchen with dollar-store cinnamon hearts and sugar and water if you’re on a budget.
The other ingredient I bought was Top Shelf chocolate bitters. The bitters have trace alcohol amounts, so they are NOT completely alcohol free. At 0.03% though, you’d be hard pressed to get a buzz off of even 10 drinks. If you don’t have access to chocolate bitters, you can use Angostura bitters for a bit of a different flavour, and add a pinch of cocoa powder as an alternate. Enjoy!
Here’s how you can get this hot mess too 😎:
Hot Mess Alcohol-Free Martini
1.5 oz alcohol free gin
*You can use full proof gin here if that’s your jam, but you may want to reduce it to 1 oz.
1 tbsp cinnamon syrup
5-6 shakes of chocolate bitters
Ginger ale - good quality if you can, but if you’re on a budget use whatever you have!
ice for shaking
1️⃣ In your shaker with ice, shake up all the ingredients except the ginger ale.
2️⃣ Strain into a martini glass and top with tonic water or ginger ale.
3️⃣ Sit back, relax and enjoy!
