Sour Patch Kids Non Alcoholic Amaretto Mocktail
/A tangy alcohol free mocktail reminiscent of a trick or treat favourite
A sweet-tart non alcoholic cocktail
One of the worst things about mocktails is that they are usually overly sweet. We try and create Nocktails (non alcoholic cocktails) that are the opposite of this, except at this time of year. Halloween is all ABOUT the sweets! This nocktail is sweet and tart almost like a sour patch kid, especially with the blue colour.
This nocktail does involve shaking in a shaker or a mason jar, because there is lime juice which needs integrating.
Non alcoholic amaretto is just like Disaronno
There’s something so yummy about almonds in the form of liqueur, except the liqueur part. Luckily for people who are enjoying mindful cocktails, amaretto is one of the non alcoholic spirits being done really well. There are several brands making it, but for this recipe we’re using the one we think is the best which is Lyres Spirits Co Amaretti. Blue curacao replacement
Curaçao is a liqueur flavoured with the dried peel of the Laraha citrus fruit, grown on the island of Curaçao. Although not as pungent as the original, the non alcoholic blue curacao syrups from Monin or Torani are fairly good stand-ins for the flavour. The syrup adds the sweetness you need plus the blue colour!
All about non alcoholic vodka
There are only two brands of non alcoholic vodka: Strykk Not Vodka and Arkay Non Alcoholic Vodka Spirits. The Arkay version is the best as it brings the heat, the burn and the bite of a real vodka. Strykk is good too, but harder to find in a cocktail ie. the softer notes get lost in anything that’s stronger than soda. You can buy Arkay through Soberlicious.ca or Strykk is available on Amazon.
Pulling this nocktail (non alcoholic cocktail) together
You’ll need the following ingredients for for this nocktail:
2 generous oz of non alcoholic amaretto
1 oz blue curacao syrup (Monin or other)
Juice from ½ lime
1 oz Arkay vodka
Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice and shake for 10 seconds to integrate.
Strain into a nick and nora glass or coupe glass.
Garnish with a sour patch kid gummy and serve immediately.
