Pitcher Drinks: Strawberry Margarita Mocktails
/This strawberry lime margarita mocktail is an easy recipe to cue up for summer entertaining, when the temperature rises and so does your guest count!
One of my favourite memories of summer is when a girlfriend used to bring over strawberry margarita pitchers. It’s the best summer drink, combining seasonal fresh strawberries with the zing of a margarita. If you’re not drinking, or looking for a mocktail version, this strawberry lime margarita mocktail is just as good and just as refreshing as the ones with alcohol.
There are so many great non-alcoholic tequilas available now that can make a pretty good dupe of the real thing (here is my list for 2025 best non alcoholic tequilas!).
There is also one other thing I know, and that is the need for an easy recipe for a crowd. This margarita mocktail requires only a little prep to make a strawberry puree, but other than that, it’s basically pour and serve! No fuss, and very little mess, just the way summer drinks should be. You’ll love this easy, citrusy margarita mocktail recipe!
Non-alcoholic zero-proof tequila
In this recipe, I’m using Ritual tequila alternative because it’s got heat, and flavour and it stands up in a drink even if there’s a lot of ice diluting it. This is important, because a lot of non-alcoholic spirits get watered down and lose their flavour in drinks with ice. Ritual’s flavour profile is also really nice to pair with strawberries. And the best part about Ritual is that whether you order it on Amazon, or need it faster than that, it’s available in lots of places now including Total Wine, ABC, Publix, Wegmans and other wine/beer/grocery stores near you.
How many drinks will this pitcher mocktail make?
That depends on the size of your glassware, but generally it makes between 4 and 6 average sized cocktails depending on seltzer and ice.
Can I double this mocktail recipe for a larger crowd?
Yes, this strawberry lime margarita mocktail is easily doubled or tripled for a larger crowd. No problem!
How to make this a low-alcohol cocktail
There’s a great option with this recipe to swap out the non-alcoholic orange liquere (see ingredient list below) with regular Triple Sec, as it’s easier to find and it’s in very small quantities. 1/4 cup of Triple Sec is two fluid ounces split across 4-5 drinks.
How to make this mocktail completely alcohol-free
There’s always confusion about non-alcoholic vs alcohol-free and what is the difference. Ritual zero proof tequila is actually 0.5% ABV. You would need 80 oz of it to equal one shot of regular tequila, but still, there is actually a very minimal trace alcohol in it. If you want to make this recipe without a tequila substitute, you can do the following alterations:
1. Add 1/4 cup of In The Raw hot agave nectar so it adds smoke and bite from blue agave nectar and jalapeno extract.
2. Add extra seltzer and slightly more puree into the pitcher.
INGREDIENTS
Fresh strawberries - even better if they’re in season!
Fresh limes - this is not optional - don’t use any lime juice that comes in a plastic container as it’s just not the same
Non-alcoholic tequila - any type, but this one I used Ritual and it adds the agave and smoky flavours
Lyres Orange Sec - this is a specialty ingredient, so if you don’t have it, you can substitute with 1 tsp of orange extract or orange oil
Salt - without salt, margaritas are nothing! Get a good quality kosher or sea salt so it really adds that umami taste you know and love
