A Path Well Travelled: A Non-alcoholic Cocktail With The Viral Pathfinder Hemp Spirit

the pathfinder non-alcoholic spirit in a grapefruit & non-alcoholic beerbeer mocktail

Pathfinder is a new hemp elixer from Seattle that is one of the most popular and sought after non-alcoholic bottles in North America. But what is Pathfinder? It’s an aperitif of sorts. It can be a stand in for both an amaro and a vermouth. It can make a spritz, a negroni and a multitude of other non-alcoholic cocktails. The Pathfinder can be found behind the bar at New York hotspots like Death & Co, Mace, Sunken Harbor Club and Eleven Madison Park. It’s often sold out because of its popularity. How did I get some? Thanks to The Sobr Market, where you can still get some in Canada.

What does Pathfinder taste like?

Pathfinder is bitter, because of it’s serious backbone of hemp and root. It’s made using copper pot distillation, where fermented hemp is blended with botanicals, distillates, extracts, tinctures, and oils for a mood-boosting, balancing effect. It’s downright confusing to try and place this in a category because it stands on it’s own.

How to use Pathfinder in a non-alcoholic cocktail

Pathfinder’s website shows lots of simple ways to make a fun drink, and as mentioned, it can be a stand-in for any amaro. It’s great with a simple soda water and lime, or with tonic (although that’s super bitter!). Beyond the usual suspects, we put it to the test in one of our tried and true recipes, our IPA negroni. You will love this juicy and bitter cocktail, inspired by Yvonne Langen from Taste & Tipple and her custom cocktail A Rousing Performance.
