Non alcoholic sparkling wines are popular, and for good reason - the signature effervescence we expect from sparkling wine adds a note of authenticity that can be harder for still alcohol free wines to replicate. Although we have yet to find a true non alcoholic champagne (to be a genuine alcohol free champagne, the wine must be bottled in the Champagne region of France), we did get to taste one excellent alcohol free sparkler after another, including budget friendly brut, sparkling rosé, an alcohol free sparkling chardonnay dupe, and the unique taste of sparkling shiraz. The diverse taste profiles incorporated citrus, strawberry, peach, pear, apple and more. There is truly a option for every taste. Here are some of our favorite alcohol free sparkling options of 2023 - no booze required.

This accessible (and budget-friendly) booze free prosecco substitute presents a delightful flavor profile with crisp green apple and citrus aromas accompanied by a clean, floral scent. The palate of this non alcoholic sparkling wine echoes the nose, with elderflower, mingled with apple and hints of citrus and stewed pear as it warms. This non alcoholic sparkling wine (we suspect made with chardonnay grapes from California) is another delicious option from Joyus, so good that it might be mistaken for the real thing. The aroma and palate reveals delightful fruity flavors of apricot and stone fruit, accompanied by a subtle suggestion of tropical fruit, perhaps pineapple. With gentle sweetness and creamy bubbles, it’s a treat to drink and would pair beautifully with food like salty meats and cheeses or the flavors of savoury hors d’oevres at a cocktail soiree.

Tasting notes:
This 95 point wine uses a blend of grapes including chardonnay, pinot gris and pinot blanc (the word cuvee, usually used by champagne producers, literally means a blend or batch). The aroma hints at orchard fruit and apple. On the palate, you'll taste bright green apple, tart gooseberry and citrus.
