Dry July Day 6 - Make It Too Easy

Dry July make it easy

Welcome to Day 6! Making it easy is a pillar of rethinking drinking. After all, this is about making life better - not more complicated!

What To Drink When You’re Not Drinking?

Ricky & Bubbles

Our drink of the day is literally made for the weekend and for socializing! It’s easy, uncomplicated and can be made quickly. It’s called Ricky & Bubbles (Trailer Park Boys anyone?!) which is an extremely simple beer cocktail - without the booze.

In summer 2020, when everyone was social distancing outside on driveways and front porches, I used to walk around my neighbourhood clutching my mason jar, and no-one was the wiser. I didn’t have to answer any questions about why I wasn’t drinking! - Sarah Kate

We love Libra’s Upstreet Pale Ale for this drink but any alcohol free beer will do.

Simply fill a large glass or mason jar 1/2 way way with ice, gently pour in one can of beer on a slant so it won’t foam too much and then gently top up with diet tonic water and the juice from 1 lime. Stir gnetly, add a fun straw, sip and enjoy!

Dry July Success Tip: Keep It Simple

TL;DR: Keeping your alcohol free drink topped up can help surf the urge to imbibe. Using a big glass or Mason jar means you can sip on the same drink all evening (plus, drinking from a Mason jar is just fun!)

FOMO is real….and sometimes staying away from alcohol is as simple as having an alternative drink in hand. Keep your glass topped up with your AF drink of choice - whether that’s sparkling water or something more elevated - to help with the feeling of being left out of something and avoid being offered an alcoholic drink you don’t want.

There are also tons of great options in ready to drink single servings that you can keep in the fridge and have at the ready, or pop into your purse if you’re heading out to a bbq or party this long weekend. Non alcoholic beer, sparkling wine in a can and ready to drink ‘mocktails’ can help you surf the urge at any event!
